PROFESSIONAL INFORMATION

Biographical Notes:

Mr. Smith became interested in arbitration/mediation and has been very active as an arbitrator/mediator since 1992. He has mediated or arbitrated over 1,500 cases and has participated in many mediations and arbitrations as an attorney for one of the parties.

He is a strong advocate for mediation, and is frequently called upon as a speaker on the subject, moderating ADR conferences, and participating as a speaker and panelist in the "Ultimate Mediation Skills Course" in San Antonio amongst other courses.

For the past several years, he has participated in the annual Masters' Forum at the Strauss Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University. He has also been named a "Super Lawyer" by Texas Monthly Magazine every year since 2003, and has been listed as one of San Antonio's best lawyers in Scene in SA Monthly.

Mr. Smith has also served as an arbitrator in many complex commercial cases.

Education:

Thomas J. Smith attended the University of Texas where he received both his B.A. and LL.B. degrees

Mr. Smith was certified as a mediator/arbitrator in 1992, is a past member of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Attorney-Mediators, the immediate past President of the San Antonio Chapter of the Association of Attorney-Mediators, and a member of the Texas Association of Mediators. He is also immediate past Chairman of the ADR Section of the San Antonio Bar Association.



RATES & PAYMENT INFORMATION

Rates: My customary fee for a full day's mediation is $2,000.00, $1,000.00 for a one-half day mediation. I charge hourly for an arbitration. The amounts quoted are split between the parties.

Payment: Mediation fee due on or before date of mediation.
